Bastrop Bear Family,
As we wrap up the 2011 year, I wanted to pass on some important information to you.
We will have our Football banquet on Saturday Feb 4th for freshmen, JV and the varsity.
The TD Booster Club has done an amazing job this year raising revenue for our program and kids. This year alone they have paid for the letterman jackets that were cut from the budget, donated $10,000 to our program and will be funding the upcoming banquet. At the banquet, we will be announcing the newly elected board members. We have many new opening that must be filled. If you are interested in serving in one of the following positions, please contact me by December 20th at gperry@bisdtx.org or my cell is 512-718-1320. [President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, BMS Director, Community Relations Director, Special Events Director, Tunnel Crew Director, Banquet and Concessions Director, Membership Director, Freshmen Director, Communications Director, Team Relations Director, Merchandise Director and Program Director.]
Basketball has begun its season and soccer has started after school practices. Be sure we support these programs by attending their games and supporting BHS. Baseball will begin end of January and the baseball facility is open Monday through Thursday after school for voluntary player led workouts at this time. If your son is not in one of these sports we strongly encourage them to participate in power lifting and track. Power lifting works out Monday through Thursday after school and is also offered two mornings a week for those in in-season sports that would like to participate. It’s a great opportunity to improve our overall team strength and participation is vital to future success. Track will begin afterschool practices in January. Track is also an important opportunity to improve speed.
Our athletes are encouraged to play multiple sports at BHS. Coaches will work together to make it happen.
Finally, if you will be missing athletics, I expect a call or text to my cell phone. Please leave your name so I can follow up if necessary. If I am not contacted, it is unexcused and will be dealt with accordingly.
Enjoy your Christmas break with your family. Continue to give back to your community and treat others with respect. Finish strong in the classroom this first semester and start fresh in 2012.
Go Bears!
